Older Posts

Hi!  As I said, I'm going back to earlier posts, identifying and letting you know what's available either as a print or as note cards, or both!  The first three posts on March 15 were "Piping Plovers" - SOLD, "The Dory" - SOLD and "Down Channel" - SOLD.  Even though they are gone, and hopefully hanging where they can bring a smile to some one's face, you will see more of these themes.  I have always loved watching the piping plovers on a big beach running just ahead of the last of an incoming wave, looking for food.  How can you not smile when you are captivated by their eager anticipation of what lies beneath each receding sheet of water?!  I am captivated by the fishing dory, its history and its treasured adaptability to the water; especially rough water.  I love to draw them, and will continue.  A dory always reminds me of where I come from in a really good way.  And "Down Channel" is a theme for me; setting sail and leaving the harbor.  Who knows where the wind will take us?

Making Headway

Ok, I'm getting organized.  I think for the rest of this week, I'll go back and re-post the drawings already posted, with the name of each, and an observation or two.  Thanks for coming in for a look!

New Links

I am the latecomer to the art world in my family.  Other than designing a lot of buildings, I haven't done much drawing or other work, so this has been an un-realized world for me.  I do, however, come from a family of artists.  My mom has been an accomplished watercolorist and birder for decades, and I've added a link to her site, which is maintained by my sister Nancy.  Nancy, is an incredible artist, presenting works in clay which can be seen on the link to her site.  She is also very interested in TaiChi, and makes the most wonderful TaiChi Players in clay, so I've added a link to that site as well.  Our grandfather, mum's dad, was a wonderful oil painter, woodcarver, and boatbuilder, so we are blessed with what talent we have!  It was he, Papa Dean, who gave me the gift of sailing the Maine Coast, for which I will always be grateful.

The Beck

Just the thought of the sound of a waterfall puts me in a good mood!  There are countless little streams falling into small ponds here in Maine.  5 x 6.5 prints are available for $10.00.

Port Clyde

Port Clyde is a beautiful midcoast fishing town.  I have fond memories of sailing into the harbor with my granddad, and staying for a day or two.  5 x 7 prints are available for $10.00.

Monhegan Harbor

Commissioned as a fond reminder of many childhood arrivals at this beautiful island off the Maine Coast.  5x7 prints are available for $10.00.

BACK AT IT

Good morning.  After a long absence, due to severe lack of knowledge about blogs, I'm giving it another try.  I think, in order to talk about individual drawings, I have to post them one at a time, so that's what I'm going to do until I get feedback yay or nay.  I've been drawing a lot, so there will be many today, and hopefully I'll get to posting one or two every day or so after that.  The originals are still $33.00, but I'm now offering prints, priced as follows:  4" X 6" - $5.00, 5" X 7" - 10.00 and 5.5" X 8.5" - 15.00.  One of these days I'll work up the courage to try 8.5" X 11".  I'm also working on printing several series of notecards, and possibly some seasonal and specific occasion cards.  I'm thinking of shells, barns, flowers, boats and the like, and maybe a polar bear Christmas card.  For anyone who has bought an original or would like to have cards made, I'll be happy to have them made.  This might especially appeal to those of you who have bought a drawing of their house or special view, or would like to.  I think I'll have fun with this, and thanks for coming in to look around!
